I posted on Instagram today the idea that mental health is a fight and asked the question of how you fight each day for your mental health. It is my experience and the experience of most clients I work with that the fight is won in the small daily battles. This idea became viral a month or two ago with the hashtag #boringselfcare. Here are some boring self care tips I give clients everyday.
- listen to music / watch a good movie / go to your local museum; art is a great way to cope and explore how you feel
- go on a walk… I know its December, but put on layers and spend some time outside
- go get coffee with a friend / spouse… even when we feel like isolating, we need people
- do daily check-ins- write down each day how you feel… this is a great way to see progress or a need to change or fight differently
What works for you? How do you fight mental health?
